Back when I used to play the PC version, my gamertag used to often be the name of a bot just for $hits and giggles. I liked using the name Loque and Tamerlane a lot. It was entertaining because people kept wondering why one of the "bots" always seemed to outscore the others by an unbotlike margin.
Not sure if it still works, but there used to be a hands-free work-around for the mic.
"Use the following trick to talk with your headset more effectively instead of holding D-pad Right.
Hold D-pad Right, unplug your headset, reinsert your headset, then release D-pad Right. If done correctly, the microphone symbol should stay on screen, and you no longer have to hold D-Pad Right to talk."
I think it is partly due to the size of the community, but also because there are little cliques depending on the mode/server. All of us religious warfare players used to just party up so we didn't have to hold the d-pad to talk; but lately I've found myself calling out to ppl over the mic saying "U have to hold right on the d-pad to talk if u have a mic" with suprisingly good results. lol I think a lot of ppl just don't know...
of course, i'd eradicate anyone annoying too. some screamer. however,(keep in mind i started playing ut3 in july) i dont seem to find many people with mics. is it because of the small size of the community?
Oooh! i always forget things, but what i do sometimes when im bored is i try to play the whole match running backwards and win it. especially fun when the noobs realize it and freak out.
also, copy cat killer sounds interesting. i'll have to try these out when theres no competition in LG dm, meaning, whenever you or a few other people are out of the server lol
i have done bullet witch multiple times, except i just use the sniper sometimes and i just use the enforcers sometimes. i blow with the sniper so i need training with it, and sometimes duel enforcers are just too easy. and i'll have to start playing that Ut3 gamertag hunting. sounds fun. and yes, exile. i do like your low death count.
lols ur can tell u an artist man... v creative lolz, my 'mini games' werent half as inventive :) smg like use just bio or impact hammer both r fun ( in low g ).........I dont get what u mean by ut3 names tho
What do I do when there's no decent competition? I make my own mini-games. Little Self-challenges.
It eases the frustration for the n00bz and gives me something to do. Great way to practice your skillz, too. Thought some of you might get a kick out of them, or possibly find an explanation as to why it is when you come in I'm doing something really lame.
Modify these to suit your tastes. I've only added a penalty option for one of them... personally I like penalties---they push me harder. Probably best for you to make up your own though. Something that;s a penalty for me may not be one for you.
Survival: King of the Hill
Applicable Maps & Locations: Shangri La [UDamage Powerup Base], Defiance [Container in mid-map] , Deck [Middle Ramp mid-Map]
Applicable Weapons: All
Objective: Survive as long as you can.
Rules: Stand on top of the above listed structures without leaving it and try to survive. Jumping is most definitely allowed for dodging---but you must land back on the structure. If you land on the ground or wuss out and jump to another structure, you're a ball-less sack of Krall dung.Take your fragging like a good boy when it comes, because it will!
(this is a great way to train yourself on reflex shots, improve your aim, controll your dodges, and of course show off if you get good at it. just watch out for snipers!)

Copy-Cat Killer
Applicable Maps & Locations: All
Applicable Weapons: All
Objective: Use the same weapon as your prey, and claim theirs for a momento.
Rules: Take a careful look at your prey and choose the same weapon they're using to kill them with. Be sure to pick their weapon up after the frag for a keepsake, and a fast refill. If they switch weapons, you must switch to theirs. If you don't have the weapon they have, retrieve it and hunt them---or move on to a new opponent.
Difficulty Level: Medium to Hard
(Will improve your character/player recognition, hone your hunting, increase your skills of observation, and put your weapons-play to the test. You can modify the difficulty of this game for yourself by adding on: Be fragged and use only a single Enforcer for the next two frags. Have double? Get yourself killed to start over.)

Bullet Witch
Applicable Maps & Locations: All
Applicable Weapons: Enforcer & Sniper Rifle
Objective: Win the match.
Rules: Win the match using only Enforcers and the Sniper Rifle. If you're out of ammo and the map does not provide more, suicide is your only option.
Difficulty Level: Easy to Medium
(This is a test of perserverence, a way to focus on dodging and aiming, and a huge stake in public Bad@ssery. People will notice that you're only killing them with one of two weapons by half way through the match. I've had people try to copy me a couple times while playing this one... even if they didn't entirely get the rules.)

Death From Above
Applicable Maps & Locations: All
Applicable Weapons: All
Objective: Win the match.
Rules: Frag your opponents only when you're jumping higher than them. Horizontal dodge-jumping does not count unless you're doing so from a structure higher than your opponent.
Difficulty Level: Mape dependant > Medium to Extreme
(This will push your aiming to max in low-grav, especially when you're at exceptional heights and end up having to aim straight down. In smaller areas, this will be a test of your patience, because in places like a hallway or chamber, you'll be too close to not take damage. You might just have to take the suicide---but make sure you get the kill!!!)
***
Over the Edge
Applicable Maps & Locations: Deimos, Deck, Gateway, K-Barge, Carbon Fire
Objective: Kill your opponent by knocking them off an edge.
Rules: Haunt or Lure an enemy to any fatal edge or ledge and knock your opponent over it. Jump shots count, as do hitting airborne enemies. Get as many as you can and tally them up afterward.
Difficulty Level: Hard
(Sounds easy... but people learn fast. They often don't fall for a lure twice, and if they do they won't for a third. Shock Rifle is awesome for controlled knocking people around, but the Stinger is more effective. You're better off with a subtle lure. Get them in the area and don't be obvious. Wait until they have their back to the edge and pop them over... or get them while they're dealing with someone else.)
***
Suicide Bomber
Applicable Maps & Locations: All
Applicable Weapons: Rocket Launcher & BioGun
Objective: Commit yourself to a suicide attack.
Rules: Get your health low. Around %50 or less is generally acceptable. Rocklauncher: This is the easy one. Walk or jump into your opponent and fire. BioGun: increases difficulty and requires expert timing and/or movement prediction. Land your glob first and bump into them as they frag, or glob and try to stick to them.
Difficulty Level: Weapon Dependant > Medium to Extreme
(I don't do this one too often anymore. I used to do it alot when I first started, because I thought it was funny... and in a lot of cases it helped me learn how to dodge by copying other player's jump/dodge moves. Plus, I've come to like my low death count... but maybe you'll like it?)
***
No Mercy for the Named
Applicable Maps & Locations: All
Applicable Weapons: All
Objective: Obliterate anyone with a direct UT3 reference in their Gamer Tag.
Rules: Destroy anyone with a UT3 reference in their Gamer Tag. Do not be distracted by kills, deaths, or winning. Do not stop until they leave the game or the match is over. If they're brave enough to come into a second match with you, write them a polite meesage to let them know you're looking for a challenge and that their skills didn't live up to their name.
Difficulty Level: Very Easy
(This is usuually an Auto-on game for me. Basically, it takes priority over any other mini-game I might be playing. I f'n HATE when people come in with UT3 names. They're usually all something gloating and filled with ego... and I feel like it's my job to make sure they're embarr****ed by it when I'm trough with them.)
*** That's that. I used to keep tallies of how well I did versus my actual kills/deaths, but it got boring just doing it by myself. If any of you get into this kind of thing... let me know. Could be fun to get into the same match and trade scores after.
